Destroying 1.7 million homes and affecting nearly 20 million people, the 2010 Pakistan floods are a massive humanitarian issue – and an urgent one.
In a country already gripped with socio-economic problems, the plight of the Pakistani people has worsened, and is worsening still. Many struggle to survive. Basic necessities – food, clothing and shelter – are lacking. In some areas, almost one quarter of children under five are malnourished. Chronic poverty, disease, displacement and torment threaten the region.
With millions of acres of land ravaged, livestock dead, and infrastructure ruined, there is a pressing humanitarian need to support the long-term recovery of the country and to respond to the needs of individuals, families and communities. The situation is grave – and the need for action is urgent.
The Pakistan Recovery Fund is a collaborative effort by those who have answered the Prince of Wales’s call to action. Together we care about the plight of the people of Pakistan. Together we are committed to taking action. Together we are determined to make a difference.
The Prince of Wales’s Pakistan Recovery Fund is convened by The British Asian Trust, a UK registered charity (1127366) and a member of The Prince’s Charities group. The campaign is managed by Knighton White Ltd, specialists in charitable campaigning around the world.
