Hi folks, we have done it; Bud & Paul at the top in ‘Tran Tom Pass’ just outside SaPa, our final destination. What a fantastic experience - although the cycling was more difficult and arduous than expected - so our training paid off.
For those that joined us on the Island bike ride; hills, you’ve seen nothing!!! Our last 21km was all up hill.
Eight days of contrast in weather, terrain, views and roads with awe inspiring scenery for almost every km. The overriding memory will be that despite the austere conditions in which the locals live, they all appeared to be happy and content, with the children in particular extremely pleased to see us strange people in lycra.
A tremendous thanks to the organisers and the other cyclists who made this such a team event; tested by weather and terrain. A brilliant crowd thanks again.
