My story

Hello there!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I hope I find you all well. As you may or may not know this April I'm running the London Marathon! Don't worry the training is well under way (ish). Im running it to raise money for a fantastic charity BigShotCricket (more on that later..) I’m running for a number of other reasons so please read on and consider donating some of your hard earned cash!

Firstly this is the London Marathon; if you speak to any runner/jogger/walker/non-athlete they will probably tell you that the London marathon is the marathon. It has always been a dream to run the London Marathon and it is something I would love to have on my list of accomplishments.

Secondly there is a shed load of family politics motivating me to run this.. Don't worry there will be no blood shed over this (other than the occasional chaffed nipple..) My Dad is also a keen runner (read 'keen' as 4 times a week lycra clad slightly overweight 50 year old) Before this I've ran one other marathon in Edinburgh in 2010 with dad, sad to say my dad cruised past me around the 20 mile mark and I haven’t heard the end of it since. So for the record I need to beat his best time to put the 'best runner in the family' debate to bed. It's a measly 4hr15mins, easy right?

For the record my target time is 3 hours 30 mins. That is the dream, but I would be very happy to make it round alive in under 4hrs. As a young spritely 19 year old you'd think this would be easy but I suffer from chronic lazyness so an effort nonetheless!

Finally, the main reason I am running the 2012 London Marathon is for a charity called BigShotCricket. Big Shot is a fantastic charity with a great team of people behind it. Their dream is to impact lives physically, spiritually and economically through cricket in developing nations. In the immediate future BigShot has plans to go to Kenya in May and India in November. Whilst on trips like these Big Shot Cricket takes qualified ECB cricket coaches and other sporty people to coach children in developing countries. They use cricket to educate both children and teachers in many different areas such as health, HIV/AIDS, friendship and to also have loads of fun.

Big Shot Cricket is an opportunity to coach children who live in places where they may not get the chance to play and enjoy cricket. They run 2-3 day cricket camps, provide clothing, quality cricket coaching, equipment and training manuals.

Big Shot Cricket is about giving value, confidence and self-worth to children through action packed cricket camps, whilst simultaneously benefiting the humanitarian projects of local organisations we work with. The money you give will be to pay for equipment we take and leave with the children in those places facilitating some happiness in there hard lives. Please give generously as this is a really amazing charity I have the privilege of being involved with and cannot support them enough. For more info please see their website: www.bigshotcricket.org

It's worth saying I got my place in the ballot so I'm under no obligation to raise money but I would really love to bless these guys with a generous donation!

Thank you for your time taken to read my babbling! Please think about donating some money, if not just be praying I make it round alive on the 22nd of April. If you'd like to know anymore please don’t hesitate to drop me an email at paulinyork@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks

Paul
