Those late night conversations come back to bite you.....

On June 4th five of us are starting out on a bike ride from Lands End to John O'Groats with the aim of completing it in 8 days. most other accounts seem to suggest that the non- motorway route is likely to be 960 miles so a target of 120 miles a day.

Early on when training started 2 months ago I concluded that if I had ambitions of sleep during the trip a new bike was needed. Whilst new equipment enhances performance to some degree work on the engine is now underway and with my first 1 x 100miler under my belt this weekend I can see the target is achievable albeit with miscellaneous aches and pains in odd areas.

So why are we doing this....we all have our own different reasons for undertaking this challenge but as well as trying to enjoy ourselves I see it as an opportunity to try to raise some money for a charity close to me Big C. A locally based charity I have worked with before who raise money for cancer equipment and research for local hospitals and run a cancer information and support centre. Cancer is a disease that has affected many of us closer that we would like, me included, and I would like to think that you will give generously

Thank you

Pete.
