Cheers for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We hope you'll agree that we are representing a very worthwile cause, and we hope to meet and exceed our fundraising target through the support of our friends, family and anyone else who will be willing to donate!
The cycle from Land's End to John o'Groats is at a minimum 1,407km, but we'll be looking at closer to 1,500km. We estimate that it will take us 10 full days of hard cycling. We are literally going to be 3 lads, 3 bikes, a tent and some clothes. We will not have a support vehicle or helping parents - we are independently going to travel the whole length of the island of Great Britain.
We were asked to support this particular charity by a doctor and family friend. He treated Ralph Bates the actor- and in his memory the fund was set up. Almost all money goest straight to researching pancreatic cancer and helping treat patients. If you would like to know more about the charity and what they do this is their web adress http://www.ralphbatespcr.org.uk/.
It's going to be really, really tough. But we know that this really is a challenge that is deserving of your donations, so we are determined to train hard to achieve our goal.
You are sponsoring Pete, Alex and Will (Chappers) to cycle 1500km. We will have to train months in advance, and cycle hundreds of miles prior to the event to acclimatise ourselves with the effort needed to complete the journey.
Justgiving is a really good way for donating to us - it's quick, easy and 100% secure. Don't worry about junk emails or bank details, and once your donation is made, money is sent directly to our charity, with additional Gift Aid reclaimed on every UK taxpayer. That means we get more than just your donation - we get some government money too! Its the most efficient way of donating, and we think it's the optimum environment in which to raise the largest amount of money we can for Ralph Bates Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund!
Cycling from Land's End to John o'Groats is a huge undertaking for three 17 year olds, and we hope you recognise this and donate generously.
In addition, please don't hesitate to ask us any questions before or after the expedition - we're enthusiastic and open to suggestions, questions, offers and of course more donations!
Thanks
Pete, Alex and Chappers
