Peter Watling from Quicklink is cycling 1000 miles from John O’Groats to Lands End in 10 days on 13th August 2012. This epic cycle of 100 miles per day for 10 days straight is being undertaken on behalf of The Rory Peck Trust. The cycle will start on the morning of 13th August and follow main roads down to Lands End in Cornwall finishing on 23rd August.
Live Streams will be transmitted from the Quicklink Merlin backpack during the entire journey to a hosted site that will be available for all broadcasters to use, Pete will also be streaming from his iPhone using the Quicklink iPhone app during the ride at set times, details of which will be on the website.
The Rory Peck Trust is the only organization in the world dedicated to the welfare and safety of freelance newsgatherers, and provides direct, practical assistance to freelancers and their families.
In the last couple of decades, 110 freelance cameramen and camerawomen have been killed in the line of duty, while working for news organisations around the world. Many other freelancers have lost their lives, been seriously injured, threatened or kidnapped.
The Rory Peck Trust is totally independent and relies on income from sponsorship, grants and donations. Supporting the work of The Rory Peck Trust is showing that the lives and work of some of the bravest in news gathering are as valued as they deserve to be.
The sponsorship raised from this cycle ride will directly benefit the people and their families at the heart of newsgathering. We aim to raise as much money as possible for this good cause and hope you will show your support by sponsoring this challenge. Donations can be made on the Quicklink website www.quicklink.tv by calling Quicklink on +44 1934 440001.
Lets all join together to make this fundraising effort a triumphant success and to reward the people we rely on.

Good Luck Peter, it's for a great charity. Well done you! Donation by Sean Curtis-Ward on 21/11/11
