My story

On Wednesday June 17th 2009, Peter died peacefully at home in Faversham, Kent, just two months after being diagnosed with Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

The speed of this disease was horrific, but he did pass away very peacefully - a small blessing.

Much loved Husband of Barbara, Father to Louise and Jonathan, Father-in-Law to Lucy and Grandpa to Sebastian and Charles, he will be so greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

The world is a better place for his being here.

Please click through the photos above - a simple selection of Peter and how we all know and love him.

Whilst currently there is no treatment or cure for this disease, any donations can make a difference.

Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease was first described in the 1920s by two German neurologists (Creutzfeldt and Jakob). It causes a progressive loss of mental abilities and is accompanied by neurological symptoms such as unsteadiness and clumsiness. The disease affects about one person in a million per year, giving rise to 50 or so new cases a year in the UK. Of these, 85 per cent are sporadic, having no known cause, with the remainder comprising genetic, iatrogenic and variant. Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease is mostcommon in the 45-75 age group, with the peak age of onset being 60-65
