Story

Welcome to my Just Giving page. After twenty years of talking about it I have finally taken the plunge and secured a place in the 2012 London Marathon.

I am using the event to raise money for Shelter. As an ex-soldier, I want to help the 5,000 people who leave the forces each year and end up homeless in the first year as they struggle to come to terms with civilian life. They make up a small proportion of the 2,000 plus people who sleep rough on the streets of the capital alone.

I have over 400 miles to cover in training through the depth of Winter. You can follow my progress between now and the big day in my London Marathon blog: http://www.realbuzz.com/blogs/u/pwhent/the-london-marathon-virgin/

I have set myself a target of £2,000. Anything you can donate will be gratefully received. Every pound you donate will make my committment seem a little more worthwhile.

And if you are at a loose end on 22 April, come and cheer me on.
