Story
On Sunday 30th
November St Andrews Day, Peterhead Football Club in association with Peterhead
Jogscotland are organising a Fundraising and Awareness day in aid Scottish
Association of Mental Health. Throughout Scotland one in every 4 families has
some one who has Mental Health problems and yet it still has a stigma to it.
Peterhead Football player David Cox bravely admitted in October he has been
suffered the same kind of problems, in the hope the stigma will be broken and more
people with mental health problems will come forward and ask for help should
they need it.
This
fundraising/awareness day is to show support to David for his Brave decision,
and raise funds for charity thats helped David and so many people in Scotland
with Mental Health problems. The day starting at 1pm will consist of Braveheart
Fun Runs 1,3, 5km walk, jog or run and 10km Jog or Run plus many charity stalls
in Peterhead Football Club. Registration for Fun Runs will be on the day or you
can donate and register your interest by using this site.
Stephen Bruce
Chairman of Peterhead Jogscotland states "I am a Peterhead FC supporter
like many of our members, and we wanted to do something to show our support to
David for his courageous decision in admitting he has had mental health
problems. Also we want emphasis the benefits of Getting Active when you have
mental health problems to those who are less active, many studies have shown
keeping active helps to lesson the effects of depression, stress and anxiety
etc etc. All are welcome to come along a try a beginners walk/jog programme
which starts at 30 secs jogging 30 secs walking for only 10 mins".
