My story
Thank you for visiting the JustGiving page for my golf marathon in aid of Brain Tumour UK.
Last year one of my oldest friends from school was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Since then she has undergone major surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy and because of this I felt I would like to do something positive for those affected by brain tumours. Research into new treatment is ongoing and funds are always needed to support this and I would like to make a substantial donation to Brain Tumour UK through a golf marathon.
Why a golf marathon? Golf is something very close to my heart as most people know and it seemed the most obvious way to try and raise as much money as I can. My aim is to play 6 rounds, (maybe 7 if the light permits and I can still walk) at Bramley Golf Club on Saturday 30th June, starting as soon as it is light, probably about 5am and finishing around 8pm. This will equate to approximately 30 miles of walking and 420 shots (hopefully!!!)
Across the course of the day I will have friends playing the odd round to keep me going, as well as other supporters walking a few holes and my girlfriend Ula caddying and walking every step of the way as well. If you would like to come and support me in the evening and to watch the final putt drop it would be very much appreciated. The clubhouse bar and restaurant will be open for refreshments and food and at the end of the day I’d love to share a well deserved pint with you. Please let me know if you are coming so I can let the Golf Club know.
If you would like to sponsor me with this challenge that would be really great! It is so easy through JustGiving - simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 28%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.
