My story

Running the Chicago Marathon in Afghanistan!

Hi everyone, together with three colleagues I will be running a relay in an official satellite to the Chicago Marathon, at Kabul International Airport, on 7th October. I will be running 8 miles of the race at over 1800m / 6000ft altitude and up to 25C. I am doing this in aid of the the Oswald Stoll Foundation. Dig deep and speed me on my way around the sticky tarmac and talcum-powder like Afghan dust!

More and more Veterans are leaving our Armed Forces and experiencing poverty, homelessness, problems with substance misuse, poor mental and physical health and the debilitating effects these have on an individual’s self-esteem and confidence. The Stoll Foundation is alone in the United Kingdom in offering comprehensive, long-term solutions to these challenges. many of our younger veterans battle much deeper, social issues and Stoll provides intensive support for individuals that tackles not only the basics of accommodation, income and physical and mental health but also offers an array of services that facilitate their full and active participation in civilian life such as back-to-work programmes, apprenticeships, a wider range of health and wellbeing programmes as well as a range of advocacy and grants.
