Reading Half Marathon 2011 · 20 March 2011 ·

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Over 15 years ago, a fellow fencer - Chris Readings - whom was also my brother's best friend, lost his battle against a rare form of leukemia and sadly died. He was just 12 years old. I am again running in the Reading Half Marathon on 20 March 2011 (which will be my fifth half marathon) and would appreciate any donations towards my chosen charity, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Donations (large or small) would be really appreciated, whatever you can spare it does not matter as it all counts and will go towards the worthy efforts of my chosen charity in finding more effective treatments.

I shall update this page following completion of the Reading half marathon to let you all know how I got on. My personal best time is 2hrs 15.

Thank you for your support.

Philippe Barbasiewicz

Post-run report:

Thanks again to everyone who's sponsored me so far. I completed the half marathon despite injuries (old and new) sustained during the run. No personal best time recorded but glad to have at least completed the run, even with the aches and pains I had during the run and the following days!
