Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure.

I am a 19 year old girl who was diagnosed with a genetic condition in summer 2012. After years of not being well, and being unsure why, this was not a huge shock. After having a full colon removal in the same year I thought everything was over until September 2014 when I was diagnosed with an intra abdominal Desmoid tumour due to fibromatosis, that had grown on my scar tissue.

I have been treated with a year of chemotherapy, and after my hard battle the plan is to continue to take a 'watch and wait' approach with regards to the tumour for around year, it seems like not long ago that I was told in early March I was told my treatment would be moved to fortnightly instead of weekly, I can remember that elated feeling even now. Although I've came such a long way, my battle is not over yet, and for thousands of us teens up and down the country, it isn't over either.

The purpose of this page? I want to give back to every nurse, doctor, and charity that has helped me through this difficult time. I have chosen to support the teenage cancer trust as not only do they fund a ward at the RVI Newcastle, where I received my chemo, but it supports teens with a wide range of cancers.

I would be extremely grateful if you would please take the time to make a small donation so I can do my bit as a thankful chemo patient and give back to all of the people who have given me so much, and help improve the care and facilities for people undergoing treatment like I was.

Please support me as I battle to get teen cancer recognised by society, we are not figures, we are not just statistics, we are people and we feel, we need the care that this gracious charity provides us with. Without their love and support this year would not have been as amazing for me- I am lucky to have been able to do so many things, meet so many amazing people, despite an incredibly hard year.

As 2015 draws to a close, I want to thank you all, all of the people who have helped me, or who have even followed my journey at such a difficult time. You've helped me make the best of a bad situation- and I will never forget it.

Since receiving great news from my consultant at the RVI- that my tumour has not grown back, I've decided to make my fundraising bigger and better than ever, and so far have taken part in an abseil from the top of the RVI, organised a bucket collection at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle and also created a social media campaign. This year, 2018, I aim to do bigger and better things in terms of my fundraising. My health is at the best it has been since my diagnosis! I will keep you all updated with my plans to take action with my fundraising!
