Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page! On October 27th i will be participating in my second YogaThon at the Yoga Show in London, and doing 108 rounds of sun salutations. This year I am fundraising for the Rainforest Foundation. 'Every year an area of rainforest the size of England and Wales is cut down. This leaves local people homeless, drives animals and plants to extinction and releases more CO2 emissions, which cause climate change, than all of the world’s planes, trains and cars. Tropical deforestation is an issue that affects us all. The Rainforest Foundation tackles deforestation locally and globally. Locally it helps forest communities to gain land rights, challenge logging companies and manage forests for their own wellbeing and protection of their environment. Globally it campaigns to influence national and international laws to protect rainforests and their inhabitants. Since it was founded in 1989 the Rainforest Foundation has helped indigenous and local communities to protect more than 100,000 square kilometers of rainforest   Around the world, there are millions of people living in rainforests whose livelihoods and cultures depend on their natural environment. In many cases, the basic rights of these people are threatened or undermined by forest destruction, land theft and resource exploitation. The Rainforest Foundation UK (RFUK) is working to ensure the long-term protection of rainforests by securing the rights of indigenous communities to land, life and livelihoods.' What your money can do!- £20 - Help a dad protect his family- 'Your £20 can help a father gain his legal identity documents. Many indigenous forest peoples in the Congo Basin do not have basic legal documents, such as a national identity card or a birth certificate, which often means that officially they do not ‘exist’. Without these documents they aredenied access to education, health care, work and the security that we take for granted. Your donation can help an individual go through the process of gaining legal identity documents giving them access to the security and services they need.' £25-  A donation of £25 will help us to protect an acre of rainforest. £50- Send a child to school- For the children of the Cameroon rainforests it is extremely rare to enter, let alone complete, primary school. Education gives children the confidence and communications skills to stand up for their home and their rights. A donation of £50 could pay for school fees, books, food, lodging, health care and a uniform for one child for one month £100- Help stop loggers- Your £100 can buy a global positioning unit (GPS) - the most powerful anti-logging device in the world. In the heart of the rainforest, this hi-tech gadget is the vital piece of equipment needed for forest communities to map their land.
