I DID IT!
Official Time 1hr 47 mins which I'm really pleased with. Thankyou to all you lovely people who sponsored me xxx
01/09/09 - We made it into print! http://www.solentlife.co.uk/ download the eastern edition and look at page 29
06/09/09 - Ran 9.5 k in 75 mins. This puts me on target for 2hrs and 9 minutes on race day - which is too slow - must try harder!
RUNNING?, ME? - You've got to be joking!!!
Always one to suffer from weak ankles and knees, and never one to come first in the highly competitive Mum's Race its a wonder I made the decision to set myself the target of The Great South Run 2009.
But I do turn 40 this year, and what better way to distract my thoughts from this terrible occasion than to improve my fitness and raise some lovely money along the way for The Elizabeth Foundation.
I started my training one cold frosty January morning, staggered round the block, which took about 8 minutes and left me collapsed on the couch, completely out of breath and unable to speak - much to the amusement of Simon, Harry and Charlotte.
It's a wonder I found the courage to venture out again, but I did and at the time of writing I'm now running 8k which is half my target distance.
The Elizabeth Foundation, which is a national charity supporting infants and pre-school-aged children with hearing loss and their families by providing help, support and encouragement. It is The Elizabeth Foundation’s belief that it is the right of every deaf child to be given the opportunity to learn to listen and talk.
I'll be running to raise funds for the Foundation’s Raise the Roof campaign which has so far doubled the size of their Cosham facility with building works but now they need to complete the fitting out.
