Do you know that Friday 11th of July is Purple People Day?
Well it is.
And on that day I want people in schools and workplaces to wear something purple and pay at least £1 for the privilege.
Why Purple? Simple. It's the colour most associated with the charity those purple pounds will be going to. Called Jessie's Fund, they're a music therapy charity that provides money for therapy projects throughout the UK. See more at http://www.jessiesfund.org.uk.
I'm doing my bit for them by taking 30 cyclists on a 270-mile bike ride from York to Amsterdam and back. It leaves York Designer Outlet on 12th July and we'll be away for 4 days! Naturally we'll be pedalling in purple! (See http://www.justgiving.com/amsterslam08)
Our bike ride £10K target will pay for the services of one these fantastic Music Therapists for six months as well as buy some much needed instruments. But you don't need to pedal at all! If 5000 people wear purple, we could add £5K to that total! Easy.
So put on some purple, pick a pound from your pocket, power on your pc and pledge it at http://www.justgiving.com/PurplePeopleDay
Or collect all the money from your school or work and send a cheque to Purple People Day, Jessie's Fund, 15 Priory Street, YORK. YO1 6ET. Please make it payable to Jessie's Fund.
Thanks - your donation means so much!
