For a whole week Alice, Kate and Mandy will be wearing pyjamas.  That's all day and all night, to the library, to lectures, shopping and on nights out!

So why are we doing this? It's very simple, to raise money for READ International.  READ is a national charity working with 22 UK universities to send secondary school textbooks to Tanzania and Uganda.  We collect books from local schools which they no longer require but which are perfectly suitable and very gratefully received by schools in East Africa.  But, obviously, this costs money! Each book we collect (and we aim to collect 22,000 by next summer) costs 50p to send out to the schools.  This helps to provide a better education in schools which do not have the resources to purchase enough textbooks and where class sizes can be very big.  So, this worthwile cause is why we are willing to look stupid and brave the Cardiff wind and rain in just pyjamas!
