The Carphone Warehouse Charity Partnership supports TreeHouse and Get Connected. All funds raised will be administered by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), the not-for-profit organisation which is committed to effective giving, providing a range of specialist services to donors, companies and charities in the UK and internationally. CAF's work spans the full breadth of the charitable sector, working wherever it can make a positive difference to the level and impact of giving.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page and considering sponsering me online

In May 2005 myself and a group of work colleagues are taking on a trek with a difference. After 3 days of intensive walking through the northern borders of the Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world, we reach Spitzkoppe. The next 3 days will be spent renovating a dilapidated kindergarten in a remote community. It is in great need of work to make it a safe educational environment for the 35 children from 2 to 6 years old who use it (some of which can be seen on the left).

As well as undertaking this much needed project, the trek will be raising funds for charities looking after disadvantaged children closer to home - Barnardo's and Get Connected. Both of these charities work with children and young adults throughout the UK, finding solutions and providing support.

As im sure you can see this is a very worthwhile cause and something that im very passionate about. Please continue to vist my page where I will be posting about what I have been doing in preperation to get ready for the trip and what I have been up to, to raise money!

Any donation of any size will go along way to helping children both here and abroad, so please donate now!

Thanks Roy --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- March 3rd 2005 - A massive thankyou to everyone who has donated so far, thank you very very much! Your donations will make a difference to alot of peoples lives both here and abroad. Preperations for the trip are a bit behind schedule, (ive been lazy and havent done enough training! ^_^ ) however they will be back on track shortly.... Just to let you know, I am also contributing to my fundraising, I have donated £250 and as you can see below I added a massive £13 the other day to push the total amount raised to £1200 at the beginning of march. March 29th 2005 - Fundraising is going well, although im beginning to sound like a broken record thanks again for your help everyone! Special thankyou to Ms Sharlene Edey for helping to get the donations back on track and to Ms Durre Shah for keeping me company on the long walks in prep for the treks and for getting the training back on track! Please continue to visit my page to see updates as the event draws closer. 10th April 2005 Wow! We got there!!! Its an amazing achievement coming up with the sponsorship target. I feel very proud and honoured to have such generous friends and family. Thank you! To anyone visiting my page and wanting to donate, please do so. After all a target is only as it suggests, a target. Any money above and beyond the target will be used by the charities as well so please continue to donate Roy
