My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you will all know I work for Forest YMCA in Walthamstow which supports homeless 16-30 year olds to achieve their full potential, increase their confidence and self-respect, and ultimately move on to live independent and fulfilled lives.
I believe everyone deserves what we all expect for ourselves - a comfortable and healthy environment to live and thrive in, and for this reason I am hoping to raise a bit of sponsorship to go towards funding the much-needed modernisation of the 40+ year old building that accommodates most of our young people by strapping on a hard hat and abseiling down all 9 storeys of it!
This major project of refurbishment began in August 2011 but we have a way to go yet, and you know what they say, "every penny counts"! I have already begun to see the difference that it is making on the residents who have moved into the first batch of new rooms, and myself and the residents are looking forward to the transformation of the whole hostel by the end of this vital project.
So if you like the sound of supporting young homeless people in a real and concrete way, or perhaps you just like the idea of me trying to scale a big tower block, anything you can give will be greatly appreciated!
