Rackspace Coast to Coast Cycle Ride 2012 · 21 June 2012

At Harlington Hospice, we’re here to support those in our community living with serious or terminal illness, and their family and friends. We believe everyone who comes to us should be helped to live each of their days in their own way, to the fullest.

144 miles, three days, no major injuries, far too much rain and wind, but we made it. Thanks to everyone who supported us, donated and sent messages. We're all shattered, but proud to have completed the challenge and met our fundraising target. Now to start planning the next challenge!

Halfway through the final day of the Coast to Coast challenge, and we've stopped for lunch the other side of Stanley. Pies and jacket potatoes all round to refuel after the hills, wind and horizontal rain of the morning. Only another 20 miles or so to Sunderland, and only another £10 to target. Please keep the messages and donations coming!

Day three has dawned, and with it, some rarely seen patches of blue sky! Everyone is feeling tired, but positive about finishing this - especially as we're just £10 short of our fundraising total. Most of our kit is still wet from yesterday, including our allegedly waterproof gear, but we're going to soldier on and try to finish strongly! Thanks for everyone's support, donations and messages - these have really helped us keep going through the sheer adversity we've faced!

We've reached the end of day two of our challenge, and today has definitely been the most challenging. The weather has been relentless wind and rain, and the hills feel like they've been nonstop. Still, at least we all made it together and have just one more day to go. Not far to our fundraising target too, which definitely helps to lift the spirits! Thanks to everyone for their donations, support and messages!

Day two begins, and here in Penrith, it's raining heavily, and is forecast to continue all day. We're all tired with various aches and pains, and have the highest and hardest climbs of the challenge facing us today. Still, we started as a team, and have managed this far so will finish as a team despite the vagaries of the Briish Summer!

It's the end of day 1, and we've cycled 57 very hilly miles in driving wind and rain. We're all exhausted, but proud of our achievement. Bring on the even hillier day 2 with more predicted wind and rain!

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.  A team of intrepid Rackspace marketeers and a special guest, David Kelly, are cycling across mainland England from Whitehaven to Sunderland to raise funds for the Harlington Hospice.  This includes all the bumpy bits in the Lake District, which given our average age and fitness levels will be truly challenging.

The cycling team comprises Annelie Kniep, Andrew Wing, Fabio Torlini, David Kelly, Paul Draper, Simon Abrahams and Matthew Johns.  We're ably supported by the exceptionally kind, generous and really rather lovely Chrissie and Martin Lackey and the most excellent Asad Malik.

Please show your support for the Harlington Hospice by giving as generously with your cash as we are with our time and legs.
