My story
Dedicated to our son Ramzi stillborn on 11 December 2010
On July 10 Adam Walkden will be running the British London 10K in memory of his beautiful baby boy Ramzi and for the charity West London Sands.
"Ramzi my son was stillborn on 11 December 2010. I doubt I will ever be able to find the words to describe the devastation caused by his death, but I will never forget the joy he gave us in the eight magnificent months he lived in his mummy’s tummy. Sadly all too many parents are left, like us, with only memories to cherish of their children: one in every 200 pregnancies end this way in the UK and 17 parents a day suffer the loss of a child through either stillbirth or neonatal death.
The West London branch of the charity Sands (Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Society) has supplied invaluable support to us during the most horrific time we could ever imagine. West London Sands is staffed by volunteers who have also lost babies and provides one to one and group support to bereaved parents. In addition, the national charity seeks to improve the quality of care and services offered to bereaved parents and promote research and changes in practice that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
Please help me to raise money for West London Sands to ensure continued support for parents like us in their time of greatest need.
This will be the first of hopefully many “Runs for Ramzi” to help support bereaved parents and fund research aimed at preventing stillbirth".
