Story
On Sunday 30th May, I am running the Comrades 56 mile ultra-marathon in South Africa.
This weekend attended one of my daughter’s orchestra concerts – the usual thing, a little discordant at times, but good for the soul.
At the intermission, a middle aged guy stood up and talked about his experiences with the Teenage Cancer Trust. His eldest son had been diagnosed with cancer. The support that Ben, his son, received from the TCT made all the difference – Ben could have cancer and still be a teenager, Ben’s family were helped to deal with all the issues that arise when a loved one receives a cancer diagnosis.
Sadly, Ben didn’t make it to his 18th.
So what do I want? Could you shake a virtual collection tin around your workplace and do a little more than just putting your hand in your pocket. Could you get your colleagues involved, your salesmen, analysts, clients – your bosses – your corporate types. I really do appreciate I’m being a pain, but sling an e mail round, raise it at a meeting, simply hassle your mates, harangue your bosses – any help is appreciated.
