Well after months of training I was gutted when I caught a virus from my kids. I can honestly say that if it wasn't for a good cause I'd have pulled out of the race! However, as many of you know I can be a stubborn beggar and so in spite of feeling awful with a throat which felt like Freddy Kruger had been at it with his nails, and my head pounding, I finished the race in 3 hours 38 mins (although I felt delirious from 16 miles onwards!!).

Thanks for all your kind donations. If you still fancy contributing donations are very welcome!! The crowds were amazing...

Hello there, I am running the London Marathon to try to raise money for the Brain and Spine Foundation.  In spite of my congenital brain condition called hydrocephalus (which nearly killed me aged 28) I am one of the lucky few who can lead a relatively normal existence thanks to receiving fantastic treatment at the Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield.  With the exception of the odd brain scan or eye appointment I am now feeling stronger and healthier than ever.  After the shock of having the emergency surgery and having faced the frightening prospect of potentially not seeing my childen grow up I feel compelled to do something positive for people who tragically lose their life to brain conditions or struggle to attain the best quality of life possible.

The Brain and Spine Foundation is committed to improving services across the whole spectrum of neurological conditions, as well as recognition and awareness of the impact of these conditions.
