My story

I am now in  Ghana as part of the Ghana Homeopathy Project to help establish homeopathy in the country. I am planning to spend six months to one year in Ghana and I hope to bring my experience of teaching and practicing homeopathy to help develop the long term goals of the project.

Since my arrival, I have been working on a teaching program, along with two experienced Indian doctors who have volunteered their time to teach here. Once they leave, I am hoping to start a teacher training program for local homeopaths as part of plan to set up a professional training program and to get formal government recognition for homeopathy.

As with all projects of these sorts, there is an ongoing need to raise funds for the many expenses. One important thing we want to raise money for is to buy a motorbike for volunteers. This will help us travel between clinics (many of which are in rural areas) and curb costs of transportation. We also need money for ongoing expenses that the project continues to have, for example, in planning the teacher training program and finding an appropriate venue. Ghana is not cheap and the project has been heavily subsidizing the program so far.

The Ghana Homeopathy Project has been very active in the last few years in helping develop clinical programs and training for homeopaths in the country and there is much more to be done. In the 1990's Homeopathy Without Borders (Europe) also came and taught here so there has been much effort put into bringing homeopathy to Ghana.

Homeopathy is a perfect system of medicine for Ghana and Africa as a whole. It is cheap, effective and accessible. Many people in the country have very little healthcare options and it is therefore important to make homeopathy available to as many people as possible. Everybody who comes here and works with people in the villages who have precious little health care resources are amazed at what homeopathy can offer and the appreciation of the people here. Clinics simply fill up by word of mouth and it is really amazing what can be done.

I have had many years experience in practicing and teaching homeopathy and also working in organizations establishing standards for the profession. In order to bring the benefits of homeopathy to Ghana, we need to be able to train homeopaths and produce a generation of local homeopaths that can develop the profession in their own country. My hope is that I can help do that and also make homeopathy a recognized profession in the country.

The many volunteers who have been to Ghana do so without being paid. We pay our own expenses and rely on the generosity of donors to help with the costs of the projects. Please do donate what you can. It will benefit many people and we will be able to help train local homeopaths who will be able to offer homeopathy in many parts of the country. Otherwise, many people have no other forms of healthcare available. They simply can't afford it.
