From 28 May to 1 June 2007 I did a fund raising 5 day, 100 mile trek in the Scottish Borders with my Dales Pony Harley, with my husband Mike for back-up and support. We rented a cottage for us, and Harley stayed at farms on the trail. My chosen charity Arthritis Care offer help and support to everyone who is affected by the condition. I am under 40 and have mild osteoarthritis (often known as wear and tear arthritis, or degenerative disc disease) in my spine, fingers and toes, so understand on a small scale how this condition affects people and their families. Even though mine is classed as mild, at times it can be very frustrating and debilitating. I did this trek to raise awareness of arthritis in younger people and to raise funds for a very worthy charity.
The trek went very well though we got rather wet every day! It was a once in a lifetime experience and I have been amazed by everyone's extraordinary generosity.
My off-line total includes estimated Gift Aid.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to pledge your support: Arthritis Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
