Thanks for taking the time to visit Bob’s Forth Rail Bridge Abseil page.

The name of the Malawian NGO we are supporting is PLAY SOCCER Malawi, but its purpose is much more than just playing football.  The project teaches health, physical and social as well as football skills.  Children everywhere love to play, and football is the world’s most loved game.  Children from the poor townships near Blantyre are no exception.  As the UNICEF UK Catalogue 2007 stated “Football unites children all over the world.  Whenever you find children, you will also most likely find football.  Children have the right to play and football can help rescue this part of their childhood.”

Each session of PLAY SOCCER includes some basic literacy activities plus three basic educational components:

 -   health education and life skills for physical development including disease prevention, immunizations, nutrition, hygiene, clean water and sanitation

-   social values and skills, such as leadership, teamwork, fair play, peaceful solutions, respect for others and gender equality.

-   the rules, skills and techniques of the game of football
