Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am pleased to say that I have done it, finishing in 1hr 35mins (24 mins behind Jenson Button!).
Why did I do this - Contrary to rumour it was not just to be able to wear lycra and rubber in public, but in order to raise funds for a charity dear to my heart.
Myotonic Dystrophy is a chronic muscle wasting disease that runs in my wife Gaynor’s family, though she is not affected, her brother Adrian and sister Debbie both are, and her mother Christine died 3 years ago following complications resulting from her condition. It is the most common and variable form of muscular dystrophy. It is a neuromuscular genetic disease that affects around 1 in 8000 children and adults.
The Myotonic Dystrophy Support Group has been a real help to our family, its overall aim is to offer the hand of friendship and support to those affected by Myotonic Dystrophy, be they patients, carers or professionals; via the helpline, newsletter, website, annual conference and local meetings. Research is also funded by the Support Group. I hope you can give something to support this good cause
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
If you are able to support my efforts I would kindly ask you to consider making a donation, the Myotonic Dystrophy Support Group will appreciate any help you are able to offer.
Thanks and kind regards Rob
