It raises funds to support low-grade glioma brain research at the most innovative neuro-oncology centres in the UK, raises awareness and offers support to those who are touched by this challenging tumour type via an informative website and a popular closed facebook support group

Story

Thank you for visiting Rod's Running for Astro. I've managed to complete the 2019 Half Marathons at Reading and Norwich, if very slowly. I've now entered Reading 2020 in the hope I will still be fit enough. Training is getting tougher and my Personal Best is long gone but my aim remains just to finish, not last!

Astro Brain Tumour Fund is a charity which combats a type of brain tumours known as Low Grade Gliomas. All donations, large or small, will be very welcome, helping to provide support and brain tumour research. As ever, my fund-raising is inspired by my niece Gemma who fought her tumour so bravely until she died at only 29 years of age in November 2010. She was truly remarkable and remains a great inspiration.

Gemma's example has helped me cover over 2,000 miles in training and races in recent years including the London Marathon 2011 and now over 20 Half Marathons.
