Story

UPDATE - DISASTER!

Hello Everybody,

Well, as most of you may know, Brian and I are currently stranded in Perth, Australia!  Our flight was scheduled to depart last Friday 16th April, but due to the very considerate volcano in Iceland it was canceled and we will now definitely miss the London Marathon on the 25th April.

We are all absolutely gutted.  It is not the end of the road however, the show must go on.  Considering all of the wonderful donations and kind words you have put forward, as well as the many hours training we've all put in through ice, snow and rain - we don't want to let the side down and most of all we want your money to be for all three of us running 26 miles, not just my Dad. He is still flying the flag in London, running on his own I might add, totally amazing!

So we are running our own marathon here in Perth.  The course is an IAAF approved route and runs as the WAMC Perth Marathon.  On Sunday 25th April though, it will be the (Rog)LelBri Perth Marathon.  You can have a look at the route by clicking this link:

We will be very sad not to run together, but have all put a lot of time and energy into this and Brian and I feel we should feel the pain at the same time as Dad!!  We have appealed to the WAMC (West Australia Marathon Club) for support and verification, and any other London Marathoners currently stranded in Perth who may wish to run with us!  We will also take lots of pictures en-route although how I'll be able to use a camera at 26 miles I have no idea!  We will track ourselves with GPS at the same time and find some way of uploading the result.

Please pass this message on to anyone who sponsored us (e.g. friends parents) who I am unable to contact via email or facebook.

Thank you so so much again for all your very kind donations.  I know we won't be running in the same atmosphere, with the same support as the London Marathon, so it's the money we have raised that we will be thinking of as we run round and that will keep us going!

Thank you! xxx

On the 25th April 2010, Roger, Lesley and Brian are running the London Marathon.

Oh blimey.

This is my idea, perhaps not my best (Bri and Dad will tell you that!) but it's for a good cause.  Each of us knows somebody who has been affected by Motor Neurone Disease in recent years so we decided to do something together to try and raise some money that might help ease peoples suffering in future.  We chose 26 miles in London, and about 360 in training around Sheffield!

We are running to raise money for the MND Association, but particularly for those people we know whose lives have been affected; for Peter, Roger B, Ruth and Susie, Liz, Jon, Clive, Anthea and Bryan.  We can't do a lot so we are trying to do a little.

We have pledged to raise £1500, we need to do this or the MNDA will send the management round, so please dig deep and think of us on those cold winter evenings when you are nice and warm.

Thank you for visiting us, see you in the pub at the end of it all.

Lel, Bri and Roger xxx
