Hello you. I am taking part in the Walk For Khuphuka - an 8 mile walk around Hampstead Heath on Sunday October 4th as part of an ongoing drive to raise money for The Khuphuka Project which is a pioneering HIV/AIDS initiative in Kwa Zulu-Natal, a very rural area of South Africa.
This community faces huge problems including high HIV infection rates, high levels of unemployment, many orphans and ‘at risk’ children and associated poverty. Previous projects by the team behind Khuphuka include the Woza Moya programme which is now an example of best practice in rural community support.
London Insight is a meditation group that I am closely involved in and this year we have decided to raise money as a community to help towards the £50,000 needed to build a community outreach centre, staffed by local people, and from which its many services will be coordinated.
So even if you can only contribute a small amount it would be so very appreciated.
Since the project is South Africa-based, the money is collected via The Mandala Trust, a UK-based NGO, a trustee of which is the project director of the Khupuka Project. More details about the Trust can be found here
