Having been told by my daughter just before my 50th that I was a bit of a fat trout, I decided to get back into shape and took up running - surprising myself that I could actually run 10K's and even half marathons ( even though I am in the veteran category !). Photo 2 shows the benefits of all the running.
Being of a certain age... I have my own bucket list - things that I want to do, before I kick it - and a marathon was listed - there was also a ride in a hot air balloon - which might have been easier!
I am raising funds for Hope House Hospice, Oswestry who do amazing work to help terminally ill children and assist their families afterwards. I have been blessed to see my own children become adults , but there are families across North Wales and Shropshire who will never have that privilege and the joy.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, Eddie Izzard may have completed over 40 but this will be my first and last marathon.
Finally the 18th April came , and I was very nervous waiting for the off - it was a very warm day , blue sky, and the crowds were amazing. I was OK up to 21 miles - and then was hit by cramp- walked a mile - and then went for assistance from St John's.
Finished the run in 4:52:53 which was outside my planned 4:30 :00 - but I did it.
I have been surprised by the generosity of those who have sponsored , I really appreciate your support.
