I was delighted to fulfil my lifelong ambition to gain a place to run the London Marathon in 2013.  This is a personal challenge I have been hoping to get the opportunity to take part in for some years having achieved a hat-trick in the Great North Run over recent years.  My wife Catherine, and her mum June, said I should raise money for a worthwhile cause whilst undertaking the challenge. June suggested Lindsey Lodge Hospice where the money will make a big difference rather than a National Charity. My Father-in-law, Tony, works as a volunteer in their bookshop.

Very sadly, June was subsequently taken ill in November and hospitalised. Her health very rapidly deteriorated and she passed away recently, on the 15th December in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.

Whilst the hospice would have been the place able to offer support to June and the family, especially over the difficult Christmas period, June did not make it to them and sadly passed away whilst still in hospital care. This has been a shock to the whole family and as such Tony, Catherine, and her sister Susan, have asked me if I would run the Marathon to raise awareness and funds for the hospice and we have set up this page for those who wish to donate.

Monies raised for the hospice will enable Lindsey Lodge to provide additional capacity in terms of more bedrooms and overnight care facilities, as well as allowing them to help and support the families of those who are too ill to return home.
