My story

In 2012 I turn 30, and I wanted to mark this milestone by challenging myself to achieve a long held ambition; running a marathon. Seeing as running has become the new cool thing to do (which, incidentally, started roughly around the time I took up the sport), I decided to sweeten the sponsorship request by running not one but two marathons, within six weeks of each other, and raise money for an amazing charity to boot.

On 15 April 2012 I will be running the Paris Marathon, followed closely by the Edinburgh Marathon on 27 May, both on behalf of Freedom from Torture.  You can read more about the charity below, but first I’d like to say thanks for visiting my JustGiving page, and an even bigger thanks for sponsoring me – please dig deep and give generously, not only to spur me on, but to help this incredibly deserving organisation.

Freedom from Torture is a human rights charity that exists to support survivors of torture and organised violence. It provides medical and social care, practical assistance, and psychological and physical therapy. Each day, staff and volunteers work with survivors of torture in centres in Birmingham, Glasgow, London, Manchester and Newcastle to help them begin to rebuild their lives. You can find out more about this fantastic charity by visiting its equally fantastic website - http://www.freedomfromtorture.org/.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
