Story

2/1/2012

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and a huge THANKYOU to everyone who has already donated; your comforting sentiments are so healing. We have also received a total of £160 off-line to send directly to Ruth's chosen charity and our heartfelt thanks go to all of you for your kindness.

16/12/2011

Ruth was many things to many people - she was a mum, a nan, a partner, a daughter, an aunty, a cousin, a niece, a colleague, a friend and neighbour. She was a "do-er", a mover and shaker, she was strong, intelligent, funny, deeply independent, a hard worker, a team player, a musician, and she was my twin sister. We are all going to miss her so much.

For 12 months she fought against cancer, displaying incredible strength and positivity, seeing various hurdles as things that just needed to be gotten over, and she exuded that positivity on everyone around her. She raised thousands of pounds for her local hospice, who she represented at a gala dinner when she gave a speech about her condition and the help she had received.

The hospice was just one part of the amazing care she received. On a daily basis her partner, daughter and son were there for her, along with Shipston Home Nursing, with whom Ruth formed a strong bond as they went about their care duties so professionally and so discreetly and without whom, Ruth's independence would have suffered. It was Ruth's wish that any donations that were forthcoming prior to, during or following her funeral were made to Shipston Home Nursing.

Shipston Home Nursing do incredible work for people who start off as strangers and end up as friends, or as Ruth put it "my Shipston angels" and they do it all for free. They rely on fundraising and donations to help people just like Ruth who are terminally ill.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please help us to fulfil Ruth's wishes to raise funds for Shipston Home Nursing so they may continue to help others, dig deep and donate now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sue XXX
