Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the SEACON-A.K.Precision Bordeaux-Paris JustGiving page.

This September Lee, Mark, Jim and Martin are taking on the challenge of cycling 600km from Bordeaux to Paris in 24hrs by taking part in the Rapha Bordeaux-Paris Challenge 2013. The event follows in the wheeltracks of the once famous Bordeaux-Paris professional cycle race.

Although ridden as a relay event, the event will nevertheless require each team member to ride approximately 400km in the space of 24hrs. An average pace of 25 kmph will need to be maintained to achieve the goal of reaching Paris inside the time limit.

This is going to be a tough challenge and a real test of endurance for everyone taking part but it will all be worthwhile if the event achieves its goal of raising £250,000 for Ambitious about Autism.

1 in 100 children have autism. This means there are around 100,000 children with autism in the UK. Many families with autism live in poverty as it costs on average three times more to raise a child with a severe impairment than a non-disabled child. Over 50% of teachers in schools in England have not been trained to teach and support children and young people with autism.

By donating you will be helping Ambitious about Autism to make a difference.

£10 could support a half an hour of their online comunity forum Talk about Autism which provides a vital platform for parents, carers and young people with autism to support each other and share their story.

£1250 could fund one weeks autism training for teachers, enabling them to better support the 70% of children with autism in mainstream education.

Please help us to help Ambitious about Autism to achieve their goal of making the ordinary possible for more children and young people with autism by donating as much or as little as you are able.
