Thanks for taking the time to visit the St John the Divine Kennington JustGiving page.
On the night of 2nd December 2011, a team from St John's are going to be taking part in a sponsored Sleepout event organised by Robes, a charity dedicated to helping homeless people. We will be joining others to spend the night under the stars in the grounds of Southwark Cathedral.
When we set up this JustGiving page we had to enter 'sleeping' as our fundraising sport (as snow is forecast we might also include 'shivering' - a multi-sport event!). One night sleeping out in the cold is nothing compared to the hardship that hundreds of rough sleepers across our city have to do deal with. So please sponsor our ZZZZZZZZ's because it is for a very good cause.
about Robes
Robes is the only shelter of its kind operating between the South Bank and Croydon. 19 churches and over 300 volunteers provide food, shelter, advice and support for over 70 people sleeping rough in South London every winter night.
Robes costs £85,000 to operate between November and March. We receive no public funding and rely solely on donations from churches, individuals and businesses.
By sponsoring our 'sleepers' spending a sponsored night outdoors, you will help a rough-sleeper to access short-term aid and long-term support in finding stable accommodation, training and employment.
what your money will buy
£120: An evening meal, overnight stay and breakfast for 15 guests
£30: A new camp bed for one of our guests
