On 16th & 18th October 2020 48 SLOW (Strabane Lifford Open Water) swimmers and their families will come together to take part in Swimathon 2020. Swimathon 2020, the worlds largest annual fundraising swim, will take place in 600+ venues Nationwide raising money for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie two causes close to the nation’s heart.

The 48 SLOW swimmers ages range from 7 years old to 63 years young swimming distances ranging from 400m to 5k. The total distance combined by the swimmers is 100miles, 161kms, that’s 6440 lengths of the pool. Our Junior swimmers are from ages 7 to 14 some of them are taking on the 5k challenge itself, that’s 200 lengths of the pool!! Our swimmers range in ability from complete beginners to advanced Open Water Swimmers. All swimmers are training hard to take on this massive challenge of 100 miles.
