My story
The Stoke Mandeville team consisting of a 20-strong peloton, including five hand cyclists, are riding from London to Paris in three days, to raise money for the re-provision of sports facilities at the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC), Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
This ride will be a gruelling test of each cyclist's endurance. The event is a huge 520km and they are aiming to average 14-15 mph covering 110 miles per day.
The Stoke Mandeville Team will include the first hand cyclists to ride from London to Paris with Hot Chillee and The Jimmy Savile Stoke Mandeville Trust has been nominated as one of the charities of the event.
The team is aiming to raise funds towards re-providing the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital (NSIC) with a specialist sports facility, including a sports hall and a hydrotherapy pool, for the use of patients throughout their rehabilitation.
The team are working incredibly hard to train for this event and completing it will be an outstanding achievement in aid of a truly worthwhile cause.
