Rachael was a loving, caring, loyal friend to my wife Fiona, and the last time I saw her was at our wedding party on June 7th 2008, she was happy, positive and very hopeful of her future. On October 28th 2008; four months after the photos were taken, Rachael sadly passed away; the cause-Bowel Cancer.

Rachael had been diagnosed with Bowel Cancer 2 years ago and she was in remission, however tests in July confirmed the worst; the cancer had spread to her liver. Determined to get better but unable to receive the treatment needed here in the UK, her husband and 8 year old daughter cashed in policies to accompany Rachael on a trip to Mexico in order to seek the specialised treatment required. In the months leading up to Rachael's death, she had stayed positive and had been very mindful of her friend's feelings and anxieties about her condition. Her spirit was hopeful and her outlook was that of looking towards the future...alas treatment had come too late!

It is in Rachael's memory that myself, my sister and my wife wish to raise as much money as we can for Bowel Cancer UK. My sister and I are currently in training to compete in the 26.2 mile Berlin marathon, which takes place on September 20th 2009.
