I first came to moorland on the 22nd February. I planned to do one days volunteering and leave it at that. On my first, day we delivered food to the bund, and had a chat with the residents who were surrounded by water, but managed to stay dry. I went home feeling like I hadn't done enough, knowing how much there was to do.

So I came back! And picked up some longs and other flood debris, but still didn't feel like I had done enough. On March 11th I became full time at Moorland HQ working to help coordinate the flood relief efforts that Somerset Emergency Volunteers are currently undertaking. 

You name it, we have done it! But to give you an idea, sandbags were made, distributed and then collected, 35 cars were saved before the flood water got too high, footpaths were built, a bund was made saving 14 homes from being flooded, carpets have been pulled up, walls have been knocked down, fridge freezers that had been left off for 5 weeks were emptied, stairs were built, fences were made, gardens raked, the list is endless.. You name it, we will endeavour to do it for you!

But at the same time we are helping to restore Moorland and Fordgate to the beautiful villages they were prior to the floods. 

Out of the 126 homes that were flooded in the two villages, 26 were either uninsured and underinsured and we are working so hard to help them during this time. Over 110 tonnes of flood waste has been collected to date, and we aren't even close to finishing, 

Which is why 100% of the money that I am raising is going to Somerset Emergency Volunteers. These funds will enable the most kindhearted and generous people I have ever met in my life to continue working SO hard to help the residents of 'Moorgate' get back into their homes as quickly as possible.
