Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

On September 4th 2012 I will be hiking 192 miles in a coast to coast walk across England, covering the highest ground it has to offer.  If the walk wasnt enough I will be carrying 40 pounds on my shoulders throughout the 12 days, which will include my tent, camping equipment and all my food for the challenge.

I am hoping to raise money for The Donkey Sanctuary.

"The objects of The Donkey Sanctuary are the provision of care, protection and or permanent security anywhere in the world for donkeys and mules which are in need of attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances, ill-usage or other like causes and the prevention of cruelty and suffering among donkeys and mules."

Some of these donkeys are received in terrible conditions.  One donkey will shy away from humans in fear of being beaten like it was by its past owners.  Another donkey I saw was half the size of the others due to neglect and malnutrition.  In severe cases donkeys are in a critical state from going without food and water.  Some require ongoing medical support to deal with the health problems caused by years of neglect.

This is a world-wide issue.  In developing countries donkeys are a lifeline for millions of people struggling to make a living.  The donkeys carry drinking water, people, food and fuel and provide an income by transporting goods.  The Donkey Sanctuary help by running clinics in places like Kenya, Egypt and India where they give sick donkeys quality treatment, and teach their owners the best way to keep their animals in good health.

So every bit of your money is going to a good cause, raising awareness and helping look after the donkeys and mules.

If you can afford £2 then please help out, the money goes straight to The Donkey Sanctuary.  And if you can afford more then thats even better because my feet are going to be really sore after 12 days;o)
