Story
Thank you very much for vising my Just Giving Page. I am a Mum with two children on the Autistic Spectrum and I will be running my 7th (!)Great North Run in Newcastle on Sunday 15 September 2013. I am raising funds for a wonderful charity called Carefree Northants, whose advocacy service helped me to resolve a very difficult and important issue, which on my own I would not have been able to do. Parenting a child who has additional needs is challenging at the best of times, but with additional pressures it can be very debilitating and I will be eternally grateful to Carefree Northants for their help and support.
Carefree Northants was set up in 2011 by three parents of adults with learning disabilities. Through their own experiences they recognised the ongoing dilemmas that families with learning disabilities face in their daily lives and therefore formed the Carefree Northants charity. Through their work, they offer assistance in time of hardship to people with learning disabilities, provide access, support and funds for respite breaks for people with learning disabilities and their carers, provide access and facilities to enable people with learning disabilities to improve their health and offer advocacy and advice giving people with learning disabilities the knowledge to have more control over their lives. For more information please check out their website on www.carefreenorthants.co.uk.
Thank you very much!
