Story
I'm heading out to Bweyale in July to allocate funds raised by our student-lead charity. The money will be spread between three schools in the village and every penny raised will go directly into whatever is needed most. No money is wasted in administration or my travel costs! (That's being covered by the friendly folks at the Lloyds TSB overdraft department)
Bweyale is a small town in Western Uganda, which became something of a refuge for people escaping the war in the North. The link with Bristol University was set up by a Ugandan medical student and has been maintained by groups of students visiting every year.
I've changed the route due to issues with route planning in London: The new route is 20 miles longer, substantially more hilly (including Dartmoor) and has nicer pubs for my parents to stop at when they're not handing me energy gels.
I'm still hoping to do the route in less than 8 hours- I'm not sure whether I'll manage this but it's worth a shot: a donation with a couple of extra quid if I make it in under 8 hours would be good motivation!
You can follow my preparation at http://app.strava.com/athletes/144277.
Any donations gratefully recieved: 1 years school fees in Bweyale are just £1.50!
