SUCCESS!!!!!! I made it up and down all 4 volcanoes (summiting twice on Tajumulco and visiting another small random peak!) Thank you all so much for the support that helped make this journey even more worthwhile. May it continue to come :)

Hey Everyone!

As you are probably all aware I am currently volunteering with Global Vision International (GVI) Phoenix as a teacher for local Mayan children on a project in San Andres, , one of the most awe-inspiring experiences of my life!!!

This work with such incredible, funny children has inspired me to take on the most ridiculous *possibly slightly insane* physical challenge ever (for me), a 6 day trek including the ascent of 4 volcanoes (including one rather active one [with a big eruption predicted soon], and the highest point in !).

7 other volunteers and I will experience pain, sweat, exhilaration and awe from the 22-27 of November all to raise money for the children and projects we work for.

Day 1 – ACTIVE PACAYA (2552m. / 8373ft)
The baby of the group, Pacaya’s red lava flows and lush forest leading up to the summit are incredible. Our ‘warm-up’ hike should be really enjoyable, (we just have to hope that we get down before that big eruption happens).

Day 2 &3 –STEEP (.)
We are driven to at at the beginning of Day 2, before our ascent of ’s 3 Highest Volcano begins. We then have a very steep ascent to the 12,723ft summit which will offer stunning views of all our four volcanoes we are climbing as well as active Fuego. Camping on the summit here should be a real highlight (good thing I have winter clothes.)

Day 4&5- TOWERING TAJUMULCO (4219m, 13842ft)
With its summit as the highest point in all of , altitude will be a challenge with the giant. We ascend to the final summit cone and then to the very top in what will probably be a very long and tiring day after before. Camping close to the summit however is sure to be a (FREEZING) highlight.

Day 6- SCENIC SAN PEDRO
Starting at 1800m. / 5906ft our steep ascent to the summit of San Pedro at will offer stunning views of and the surrounding area as well as a trail through cloud forest and a fitting end to an incredible week.

I am so excited about being able to complete this experience, but even more excited about the funds that it can raise and the difference that it can make in the lives of the children that I work with, as well as the lives of all the children in the Guatemala Projects in Central America. I am funding my own adventures so PLEASE, PLEASE donate.
All your money will go DIRECTLY to the projects.

These projects do so much more than just educate these kids, they literally give them a childhood! When the kids are not at school they are at work; without any time to play or to just be kids. They literally have nothing, yet GVI offers them a safe, fun and loving environment to live and learn in, as well as enriching the community with various plans around the schools (and I can say from personal experience are so careful with their resources).

I have fallen in love with these kids and communities; please help me support them and their efforts, they can benefit so much from so little!

My aim is to raise at least $500 US, help me make this a reality!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT, IT MEANS THE WORLD.
