Hello everyone,
The time has come to beg you all to dig deep and sponsor me as I attempt to complete the half marathon.
The reason I have chosen Heart Link as my charity is all down to my beautiful niece Anna. Who was born with a hole in her heart. For her just having a bottle was as tiring as running a marathon so I thought if she can do that about 5 times a day then I can run 13 miles!! (click on photo's underneath my picture to see her)
Heart Link is a childrens charity who support children with heart defects, their parents and families. Their fundraising has improved facilities for patients and families as well as much needed medical equipment. They organise events so families can meet and talk to others in a similar situation.
Anna has had her operation, which she coped with magnificiently (better that her parents I think!!!!). She has gone from strength to strength and is now off all her heart medication and getting heavier everyday.
I started 2009 by giving up smoking. I then began to jog with my other half Andy. To begin with I made it to the first lampost in the street before I had to stop for a breather! Unfortunately Andy managed to break his ankle in February so I was left to pound the streets alone. However I have been inspired every step of the way by Anna who has met every challenge head on with a smile on her face.

Well the time is getting closer. Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to donate. I can't believe how generous people are. Anna is now going to meet me at the finish line to say thank you! (Emma is coming with her!).
Mum is staying with me on Saturday night to help keep me calm and make sure I get a good nights sleep.
Hopefully the next time I update this page I will have my very first half marathon time under my belt.
