Last summer a very special young lady made an early appearance into this world and following an enormous amount of medical care, love and fight on her part, Harriette Parker-Harrison turned one on the 17 August 2009.
As a way of thanking the staff at the James Cook Neonatal Department, Harriette's mum Sian has set about raising £10,000 which will mean that the department can have another neonatal ventilator. At the beginning of the year, I offered to join the fundraising effort and amongst my birthday post in February was confirmation of my ballot application to take part in this years Great North Run.
For those of you who know me well, the thought of me running for a bus would have been funny six months ago, but here I am four weeks away from lining up at the start line with two competitive races under my belt and a desire to complete the course in around 2 hours.
I hope you enjoy the attached video which Sian has put together showing how Harriette has grown over the last 12 months and that you find it in your heart to donate to such a worthy cause.
Thank you in antipication of receiving your donation.
Sara
