Story
I’ve always loved swimming. I love swimming enough that I will be swimming 200 (!!!) lengths of Hart Leisure Centre pool on the 29th of March.
The Swimathon supports two fantastic charities, Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie Cancer. Statistically, 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetimes. My Grandad was one of the unlucky ones, even though he battled the big C for over 2 years. That alone was possible by the fantastic research treatments that Cancer Research pioneer. As for the palliative care and support, Marie Curie supports families throughout the times when you need more than medicine to get by.
I’m hoping to swim enough to make a difference, and make him proud too. Every donation helps.
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity is dedicated to saving lives through funding research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Cancer Research UK are the only charity fighting over 200 cancer types but don't receive any government funding for their work, so their progress is all thanks to the support of people like you.
Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Around 2,100 Marie Curie Nurses work day and night, in people’s homes all over the UK, providing hands-on care to people when they need it most.
