Kassim and I are running/walking/possibly crawling (by the end of the race!!) to raise funds for The Desk & Chair Foundation which helps to provide local people in Tanzania with access to vocational education, clean water, sanitation, mobility and opportunities to become self-sufficient.
We are raising funds for two very important projects. The first is to purchase wheelchairs & tricycles for the disabled in order to give them the gift of independence, mobility and the opportunity to earn a living. The second is a sanitation project to build new toilets in a village school. According to the World Health Organization, the lack of sanitation is a serious health risk and is the main cause of diarrhoea, the second biggest killer of children in developing countries, and leads to other major diseases such as cholera, schistosomiasis, and trachoma. Both projects are very important and will improve the quality of life for local people.
