UPDATE!!!!!!
Guys, what can I say. We have now hit well over £6000, which is double what we hoped to raise. An incredible effort by everyone and it dwarfs what we did into insignificance. Thank you so much for every donation - the aching bones and limbs were well worth it and we will go through hell again if we can get this sort of money. Wait for what we have planned next year.........
Many many thanks again - we couldn't have done it without you!!!
========================================================================================
After the great success of last year when our team of brave fearless warriors successfully completed The Yorkshire Peaks in under the 12 hours, we have now come up with an even bigger and more scary challenge to test even the most athletic and foolhardy competitor. This year's challenge will take place in the stunning Lake District on the weekend of the 5th Sept, it will consist of the following individual events:
=> Canoeing 13km across Ullswater => Walking 10km up Striding Edge to the summit of Helvellyn (the 3rd highest peak in England) => Cycling 20km across rough terrain to Derwent Water => Canoeing 3.5km across Derwent Water to Keswick, our finishing lineA Total Distance of 46.5km in under 12 Hours !!!
We are all putting ourselves through hell and back and risking our lives in the deep waters of Ullswater and the frightening and dangerous ridge that is Striding Edge (on the way up to the peak of Helvellyn) to raise money for our wonderful charity, Demelza House (their home page can be located at http://www.demelza.org.uk/). Please, please, please can you dig deep into your pockets and pledge some money to support our efforts. Anything will be gratefully recieved.
And just to provide a little incentive, we are giving every person that makes a donation the chance to enter a guess at our finishing time for completion of the three activities. The clock will stop when the last person in the team crosses the line, which is essentially when they touch down on the shores of Derwent Water at Keswick. The person who estimates the nearest time will win a fantastic prize. Just enter your predicted time when you make your donation in the comment section - if you can try and come up with a unique time by checking which times have been taken already. We'll be recording to the nearest milli-second (well second at least!).
Finally, everyone who is part of the SearchFlow team and all the staff at Demelza House would like to say a big thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
