Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the Clare Burren Marathon with my friend Ed Minor (you can donate at his page here tinyurl.com/c4lvyvb) to raise money for the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative run by Imperial College.
Schistosomiasis is a parasitic disease that affects hundreds of millions of people across sub-Saharan Africa. It causes chronic health issues that prevent children from going to school and parents from going to work, trapping them in poverty.
Schistosomiasis is one of a number of "neglected tropical diseases" that the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative helps to tackle, by providing medicine and training to schoolteachers to fight these easily preventable diseases.
We chose this charity because we think this is a great cause that helps people get out of poverty and because the charity has been scored highly by independent monitors for things like cost-effectiveness and how much of your donation goes to actually helping people.
So, if you want to help poor African children and provide motivation for us as we slog up an Irish hillside, please give as much as you can.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
